Palab volcan
Palab Volkan is a work in progress, a meeting between poetry and raw material that seeks to capture the ancestral murmur of molten lava. Sculpted from recycled paper and natural pigments, this creation evokes the tireless movement of lava, a force that, with each eruption, redraws and enlarges the territory of Reunion Island. The volcano, a symbol of creation and destruction, embodies the eternal cycle where life is reborn from the ashes, shaping the world with an intensity that makes the earth vibrate.
The material, both light and organic, captures this duality between fragility and power. Through its texture and form, the work evokes the incessant transformation of the Reunion landscape, where each eruption marks the rock with a new imprint.
A sound installation accompanies the sculpture, broadcasting the vibrating sound of lava in motion. The dull, haunting sound is a reminder of the power of the volcano, both creative and destructive. The installation becomes a living echo of Réunion's beating heart, inviting visitors to feel the tension between strength and gentleness, between birth and obliteration. Palab Volkan is an ode to the land, a testament to the wild beauty that continues to redefine the island's boundaries.
