“Painting with Nature.”

at Hégésippe Hoarau School in Saint-Louis, Reunion Island, with "les apprentis éco-vert"

From July 15 to August 7, at Hégésippe Hoarau School in Saint-Louis, I invited children aged 7 to 8, the group Les Apprentis Éco-Verts, to participate in the workshop “Painting with Nature.” Inspired by the artwork Bat Karé, we explored artistic creation directly connected to their environment.

Each child freely chose their colors and selected leaves from their nearby surroundings, learning to observe and appreciate the shapes, textures, and nuances around them. The leaf prints on the fabric became traces of their sensitivity, imagination, and wonder at the living world.

Beyond painting, this workshop was a space for ecological discovery and co-creation. Simple gestures—prints, colors, textures—came together to form a collective, poetic, and mindful artwork, celebrating both the beauty and fragility of our planet.
